Why should manufacturers consider antimicrobial roofing materials?
Roofing materials are exposed to the elements all day, every day, for years. The environmental stresses caused by weather, sunlight and temperature variations can all lead to degradation over time. Even the most durable materials provide ample opportunity for microbial accumulation, commonly leading to mold and mildew setting in.
Whilst roof damage may be gradual, a poorly performing roof can result in serious structural damage to the rest of the building, leading to large maintenance costs and a risk to human safety.
That’s where Microban built-in antimicrobial technologies can help roofing manufacturers enhance material performance against mold and mildew. Antimicrobial roofing membranes powered by Microban benefit from 24/7/365 protection for the expected lifetime of the product, meaning they will stand up to demanding conditions.
On top of that, according to a recent AYTM survey, 94.5% of respondents would be more likely to purchase a property if it featured antimicrobial surfaces and building materials.
