Microban International’s Vice President of Research & Development, Dr. Ivan Ong, was featured in Workplaces magazine’s May 2021 issue, where he provided expert commentary on performance fabrics.
Workplaces magazine is a content-to-commerce publication that aims to inspire workplace design, define trends and drive business consumers to discover great products. The publication covers all things ‘work’ – be it from home or at the office – from innovations in technology to the latest workstyle trends.
In their latest issue, Workplaces covered topics like workplace wellness, return-to-office decision making and the hybrid work model, while also highlighting the increasing demand for ‘cleanable’ products, like performance fabrics.
Workplaces shared the top five features of performance fabrics, including durability, ease of cleaning, bleach compatibility, antimicrobial protection, and sustainability.
Dr. Ong provided commentary to define these enhanced materials and shared how proper antimicrobial treatment of fabrics combined with regular cleaning creates a systems approach to keep soft surfaces cleaner. Textile surfaces enhanced with an antimicrobial technology are not only protected from the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, but also can work to keep fabrics fresher and longer lasting.
Microban® built-in antimicrobial technologies are suitable for a wide range of hard and soft surface needs to provide a safe and effective lifetime of protection. Our portfolio of textile additives retain OEKO-TEX® and Bluesign® certifications.
As society begins to open up public spaces again, performance fabrics are just one way to instill peace of mind.
