Microban International’s Vice President of Research & Development, Dr. Ivan Ong, was recently featured in the July 2021 issue of Compounding World.
Compounding World is a global publication that covers key technical developments, market trends, business issues, and other information needs directed to compounders and masterbatch producers across the plastics industry.
The latest issue addressed ways plastics can fight bacterial growth, and how antimicrobial additives can address microorganism growth across a range of applications, preserving materials and extending usable lifetimes.
“By their design, antimicrobials are used in repeated-use, durable articles, and the benefit they bring will aid in encouraging industry and consumers in migrating from single-use packaging and products to durable, multi-use products,” Ong said.
‘Clean’ is a desired product feature and will continue to be a focus across all industries in the coming years, not to mention the added benefit that stronger plastics contribute to less waste in our environment. Built-in antimicrobials in plastics offer one way to address concerns and give end-users peace of mind.
