The Mission
The aftermath of the global pandemic combined with a call for greater environmental responsibility is shaping the future of plastics. 72% of consumers admit they now worry about exposure to bacteria, while 85% are actively making choices to protect the environment*. That’s why manufacturers worldwide are looking to create smarter plastic products that address both cleanliness and sustainability concerns.
Microban's mission is to redefine the hygiene, cleanliness, and sustainability of plastic products, helping to contribute to a cleaner world and a more circular economy. Our presence at CHINAPLAS served to educate industry professionals on built-in antimicrobials and how they improve product performance whilst also alleviating consumer anxieties.
The Pre-Show Webinar
73% of consumers are now concerned about the presence of bacteria in their kitchen. More than half say they feel anxiety during food preparation and a further 61% claim they worry about bacteria on surfaces when eating out at restaurants*. However, awareness of the hygiene of kitchen utensils still needs to be improved, with less than 1/3 of consumers using separate chopping boards for raw meat and ready-to-eat/cooked food.
The nature of their use means food-contact products are readily contaminated by bacteria. This is often the result of human contact, food residues, or re-use of items for multiple purposes. Combine these conditions with moisture and non-adherence to cleaning regimens, and bacteria will thrive.
On 31st March, Winnie Chen and Jun Xu delivered an exclusive pre-CHINAPLAS webinar entitled 'Redefining Kitchenware Products with Built-In Antimicrobial Technology'. Attracting more than 200 attendees, the presentation educated manufacturers on ways to create smarter kitchenware and home appliance products that stay cleaner and last longer.
The Booth
Microban occupied booth 15B29 at CHINAPLAS, which was situated in the renowned Additives Hall. Our vibrant, stylish stand covered 36sqm of space and showcased key product applications such as automotive, home appliances, building materials, and consumer electronics.
